My stay at the hotel was mostly pleasant. The room was fitted out nicely with marble floors and a very comfy bed, but the overwhelming smell of detol was a bit off-putting. The location was great for catching the train to Wellington and exploring Auckland on foot. While the dining experience left much to be desired, the facilities were decent.
