The Royal Hawaiian, A Luxury Collection Resort, Waikiki, Honolulu

Staying in the Historical Junior Suites on the 17th floor in the Malulani tower building provided a breathtaking view of Waikiki Beach, Diamond Head & The Pacific Ocean, although the rooms felt a bit damp. The service, which included arranging a move to the sister Sheraton property next door with an upgrade for my parents' anniversary, was top-notch and very accommodating. The location was incredible, offering divine surroundings with convenient beach access and proximity to the main mall of Waikiki, despite some inconvenience with kids running around. Dining options were a bit limited and overpriced, but the facilities overall were decent.

The hotel offers a mix of positives and negatives. The rooms, ranging from the Historic Garden King to the Oceanfront Balcony in the Mailani Tower, were decent but on the smaller side with average fixtures. Service was exceptional, except for the valets/bellhops. The location is superb, close to Waikiki beach, shopping, and nightlife. However, the dining experience fell short of expectations in the Mailani Tower lounge. Overall, a stay with ups and downs.

My stay at the hotel had its ups and downs. The rooms were spacious with a classical touch and had high ceilings, which was convenient for unpacking. However, they were not quite 5-star quality. The service was universally excellent with designated waiter service but the transportation took a lot of time. The location was great, right in the heart of Waikiki, offering a stunning view of the beach. The dining experience had great food, but the prices were a bit steep. Overall, a mixed experience but with some notable highlights.

The hotel is in a great spot, allowing for a real getaway while being steps away from Waikiki's fun. The rooms are on the small side, and the bathrooms are even smaller, but they overlook a lovely entrance garden. The staff, from room cleaning to valet service, is friendly and accommodating, although a bit inexperienced for some guest needs. The location offers access to the pool next door if not the infinity pool, and the lovely gardens are perfect for wandering or enjoying a mai tai. The dining experience at the outrigger is not quite up to the Royal Hawaiian level. Overall, a nice hotel with some room for improvement.
